This analysis aims to understand the local situation in relation to the European Union's "From Farm to Fork" strategy, which aims to have 25% of the agricultural land in member states cultivated using organic methods by 2030.

Methodological note

Data sources:

  • CCPAE statistical data: We utilized the statistical data available on the website of the Catalan Council for Organic Agricultural Production (CCPAE), which included information on the evolution of major crop groups and producers from 2000 to 2019, as well as detailed data from 2019 on producers and crops.

  • DUN-SIGPAC 2019 crop map: We compared the crop data from the DUN-SIGPAC Agricultural Declaration of the Government of Catalonia in 2019 with CCPAE data to determine the proportion of non-organic hectares.

It's important to note that we excluded areas of meadows, pastures, and forests in order to make a comparison with the DUN-SIGPAC crop map.
