The recovery of the mosaic landscape and diversification in agrosilvopastoral production are two of the challenges that are of most concern in the Òdena basin. This was stated yesterday by the dozen participants in the new competitive creativity meeting organized by the Barcelona Provincial Council within the framework of the BCN Smart Rural, a European project co-financed with FEDER funds.
The session, in telematic format, has made it possible to identify the data and indicators that the municipalities and associations of the territory need to better understand the characteristics of their agri-food sector, in addition to reflecting on what they would like the future BCN Smart Rural Observatory to be like. The Anoia Regional Council, all the municipalities that promote the Agrarian Park of the Òdena Basin and members of local entities and associations such as the Eixarcolant Collective and Salvem Can Titó were invited to attend.
The participatory process has been divided into two dynamics. The first has focused on identifying which are the major agri-food issues that most concern the territory and about which there is the greatest lack of information; the second, by collecting, grouping and prioritizing the most useful and interesting data when developing specific actions in these municipalities. In their conclusions, the participants have pointed out as priority challenges the recovery of the mosaic landscape, diversification in agrosilvopastoral production, the ageing of the peasantry and the need to raise awareness about the most sustainable farming systems.
