This analysis is based on the crop map of the Agricultural Declaration of the Government of Catalonia (DUN-SIGPAC), which provides details at the municipal level. The information includes the area for each crop group, specifying crop type, variety, rainfed or irrigated, and type of irrigation for irrigated crops. The evolution of declared surface area from 2016 to 2023 has also been studied.

This information is presented in an organized and accessible manner, categorized by municipality, county, and agrarian park, providing a comprehensive understanding of crops, their evolution, and other relevant aspects of the agricultural sector in the province of Barcelona.

Methodological note

Data sources:

Please note:

  • The data is updated annually.
  • Please note that pastures are not included on the crop map, and therefore, they have not been considered in the interactive map.
  • Some unrepresentative groups in the Barcelona province have been combined to simplify the information, making it easier to visualize and analyze the data at a user-friendly scale.

The information of each parcel has been enriched with data from the DUN agricultural holdings map using a spatial join. These indicators are located in the "Farm" tab and provide information on the owner of the farm (male, female, company) and age group.

When zooming in on the map, you can view the crop layer on top of the aerial photograph (orthophoto). This allows you to select any crop in the graph to apply filters and obtain more detailed information about specific crops in your area.
