On Saturday, 21 September, as part of La Setmana del Llibre en Català (Catalan Book Week), the Barcelona Provincial Council will present the book 'Farming Barcelona. Portraits of a Changing Agriculture' at stage 2 of Passeig de Lluís Companys in Barcelona at 5:30 pm.
The event aims to recognise Barcelona's farming community and provide a meeting space for those committed to healthier, safer, and more sustainable food practices. The presentation will bring together agricultural professionals and offer a panoramic view of the challenges and opportunities facing agriculture in the province.
Sònia Callau, head of the Provincial Council's Territorial Agrarian Directorate, will moderate a conversation with Patxi Uriz, the book's photographer, and two interviewed farmers: Dídac Valera from l'Hort d'en Dídac and Adela Martínez from Huertos in the Sky. Together, they will explore the complexities and satisfactions of agricultural work.
This event will offer attendees a unique perspective on the experiences and reflections that have shaped this work, which documents the transformation of agriculture in the province of Barcelona.
